Tweak Bird: New Single, New Album, New Shows
I fuckin’ love this band. Ever since I heard brothers Ashton and Caleb (Big Bird and Little Bird, respectively) yell “The bones! Don’t break that easy!” like two banshee children, I’ve been a fan. Tweak Bird brought their big beats, bigger riffs and eerie, high-pitched vocals from the Midwest to the LA underground a few years ago. Since then, they’ve put out a couple 7″ singles and an EP, been touring extensively and even learned what “The Lobster Tank” was while out on tour with Maynard and the other three lads in TOOL! Catch ‘em in concert because nothing they’ve recorded [so far] matches their live shows.
Caleb let us know that they’ve got a new album’s worth of songs finished. The ten tracks were recorded at Manny Nieto Estudio (Steve Albeaner) in LA and the brothers brought along Deaf Nephews for production work. Apparently these songs have a “real big raw sound,” so I’m all the more excited because their Reservations EP didn’t capture their heaviness nor the intensity that they bring live.
While they figure out an official release date, Tweak Bird have a streaming single, “Millions of Suns (Ahhh Ahhh),” which was formerly called “Sun/Star” and has a goddamn sax solo halfway through. Check it out here.
They’ve also a string of shows coming up, so if you live in general the Southwest area of the States, put on a headdress and make your pilgrimage. You’ll thank us, hopefully with drugs and love letters. PO BOX 1268 Hollwood,CA 90078 The cops don’t check the mail!
