Sly Stone signs to new label, two new Sly films!

sly_stonevanity_fair

Sly Stone, troubled funk genius and head-honcho of the legendary Family Stone, has signed a new record deal with L.A.-based Cleopatra Records. Which in true Sly-fashion is a weird choice. Sly & The Family Stone are now label-mates with such random acts as Christian Death, Dokken and Winger!

The good news is Sly has finished a new album that’ll be his first new material since 1983’s “Ain’t But The One Way” when it hits stores this summer of 2010! We can’t wait to hear what it sounds like! You know Ian Rogers is amped too… Hey Ian, call that manager guy and tell him we wanna party with Sly already! Let’s do this!

Also coming out in 2010 are two new Sly documentaries! Check out the trailers.

  • BAM

  • he copied kanye west didn’t he? fuckin love sly

  • This shit don’t feel right, man.

  • Yo soy con Jefe.

This has that big commercial comeback stink all over it. You can bet he’s totally gonna piss on his legacy by doing a duet with Fergie or something.

Please Sly, don’t screw this up.

Listen… Just stay away from metrosexual black dudes that call themselves ‘producers’. Hire the Daptone records session cats and get that guy from Darker My Love on keys, hole up in a desert studio with a buncha freaky hippie chicks (and their drugs) and everything will work out fine. You keep the party going, maintain your dignity, sell some records, and avoid subjecting people to another pile of shit pinched off in a sad attempt at career resurrection. Everybody wins!

  • Sly can do pretty much whatever he wants, he’s one of my lifetime musical influences and is a “maker” not a “faker”. He rules, others follow. Great expectations for whatever it is that the “Underdog” will release. Much respect due.
