Jubilee is a rock n' roll band from Los Angeles, California. The
initial components of this new group being Aaron North on vocals and
guitar (Nine Inch Nails, The Icarus Line, Buddyhead dickhead) and
Michael Shuman on bass and vocals (Queens of the Stone Age, Wires On
Fire, KXLU Program Director dickhead), the band started as a vision of
an outlet for these lads to explore other musical avenues than they'd
ventured into before. Say
What would happen if you mixed The
Replacements with The Stone Roses? Neil Young with Blur? Jane's
Addiction with Bob Dylan? Creedence Clearwater Revival with The Verve?
Maybe it had even already all been done before. But who cares? Cos if
it had, then it sure hadn't been done enough.

Denver's Moccasin (formerly known as Nightingale) have created their own natural sound entangling thick swells of guitar with dreamy vocal melodies, rooted by a deep and heavy rhythm section. They have erected a sonic giant; wielding fuzz pedals, reverb tanks, and tape echoes as a means to forge immense walls of analog sound. Comparisons have been made to the Verve, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Ride, Sonic Youth and Spacemen 3. Moccasin self-released their six-song "Last Leaf" EP and have successfully toured the west and east coasts. They are now writing and recording their full length debut for Buddyhead.

The PoPo have already been credited with inventing the "post-hip hop" genre, and are indeed the style's premier band. That's quite a feat considering "The PoPo" is the group's debut release. Based out of Philly, PA, USA, EARTH, their sound is a complex interpretation of popular music in the context of a corrosive, post-modern future. The 4 members of the group: Pops Ghostly, Fullscreen, Blue Bishi, and Hamstar, fuse together lo-fi punk, hip hop, and world music to create a dramatic sonic landscape suffused with myth, mysticism, and mystery. Their self-titled debut can best be described as a "lo-fi epic"
Like a grungy fairytale conceived for a modern audience. Written and recorded by the group in their basement, (aka "The Zombie Cave") the music is deeply influenced by the band member's Middle Eastern roots, and the intense feelings of alienation they experienced growing up. The constant certainty of being surrounded by those who would treat them differently because of their appearance and background, led to the group's unique concoction of sounds that portray a child-like reality, tacitly controlled by a calculating and intractable evil.

The Cassettes are Washington D.C.'s premier "vaudeville steam-punk" band. This "Musical Explorers Society" is fronted by Mr. Shelby Cinca, formerly the voice and guitar behind such notable D.C. groups as Frodus and Decahedron. He has also been the man responsible for recording various instantly classic D.C. indie albums such as Dead Meadow's first two full lengths. But don't be fooled into thinking there is any sort of punk/hardcore/post-punk tomfoolery happening here. The sound of The Cassettes strolls lavishly down the "Rocky Raccoon" / "Honey Pie" path that some could describe as synth-infused country stomp folk. Joining Shelby in his vision of pushing musical boundaries and expectations is Stephen Guidry on squeezebox and moog, Saadat Awan on drums and tablas, and an extensive cast of banjo, theremin, and saw players.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Wires On Fire have delivered their anticipated self titled debut album, which was produced by Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider (Eleven / Queens of The Stone Age / Mark Lanegan) who have also previously recorded such artists as Eagles of Death Metal, Chris Cornell, No Doubt, and The Distillers just to name a few. This album is a follow up to their first e.p. ("Homewrecker") which garnered them a notable amount of critical praise, and Alternative Press named them one of the "New Bands To Watch" last year.
