fuckin a . im english and i cant tell you how proud oasis made britain for about 3 solid years. post-grunge we needed em. so they couldnt keep it up forever. those sorts of things cant because the next generation need their natual heirs etc and things move on. but…but, oasis were still the best rock n roll band on the planet for at least 5 years. noel could have been a stand-up comedien and id love him just as much. but luckily he writes the best tunes. i never liked liam but loved his voice. then he tore the fucker out and no amount of jogging and early nights can get it back. sorry friend, you suck!
i agree with noel on most things and laugh when i dont but america really fucked punk rock up the arse im afraid. mainstream “mall-punk” as you call it drives me insane. i love early 80’s hardcore but aint liked anything really since i grew out of nofx.

I dunno man. I like Oasis songs as much as everyone else but they’ve got nothing on Bark Psychosis. I guess I miss the days when Buddyhead was putting up interviews with the guys from Wire (talking about London and jungle and how much modern bands suck)

I guess what you guys are missing/don’t get is something called “great songwriting”. Perhaps you’re deaf, or maybe you have a preconceived prejudice against Oasis, and aren’t listening to them with an open mind. That’s fine for you.

It isn’t any damn crime to be derivative, as long as the work you do is evocative….and for my ears, many of Oasis’s songs certainly are.

Sure, JSBX and the Doves are great too, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that each and every Oasis album has great songs….some more than others.

I think what Noel’s statement concerning American Punk has more to do with what, as a genre, it has become on a mass level. Considering the fact that drivel like Blink 182 is considered “punk” by many, who can blame him?

I’m glad to see that Noel and Liam are moving on to new projects. Personally, I wouldn’t be so quick in dismissing the potential of whatever project Liam winds up in. I thought some of the songs he wrote for Oasis were tops…a few examples are “I’m Outta Time”, “Songbird”, and “Pass Me Down the Wine”….

In any case, I’ll be listening to both Noel’s and Liam’s new ventures.

I love Oasis and all, but seriously… Doves is probably the best and definitely the most underrated British band out there right now. “The Last Broadcast” is about as close to flawless as they come, and the rest of their stuff rules too.

Dude, what you’re doing isn’t writing. It’s 6th grade ranting. No one thought you’d stop writing about Oasis they hoped you’d just stop publishing shit to the internet all together. Pretty much anyone that’s ever heard of Oasis would have expected Noel to pursue a solo career. Way to crack the case Sherlock. I unexpectedly end up back on this blog every 4 or 5 months and I’m equally confounded each time by the people who seem to visit regularly. I guess it’s the plot of Idiocracy playing out int his little world.
