New Video: The Icarus Line @ Sunset Sound
The Icarus Line boys are BACK with a new record that’s about to come out (interestingly titled “Joe Cardamone V.S. The Icarus Line” and recorded at their own studio “Gang Bang Park”), a handful of singles as well (one that might even appear on Buddyhead Records if everyone plays their cards right) and somehow LA’s dangerous sons even tricked The Captain into re-joining the band, again! Like most good things in this world The Icarus Line have a love-hate relationship with most people close to them. Case in point, I’m pretty sure this is the THIRD time The Captain has joined The Icarus Line! Now that’s a good story!
But unlike most “dangerous” rock bands, The Icarus Line aren’t all style over substance. In fact The new material is as good, if not better, than anything they’ve written in the past. The new album is pretty sick, and it seems they know it cuz the first single is called “We Sick”. Check out this AIFF of Suicidish “Bad Bloods” and a cute little movie that Joe (check out his 13 Answers to our 13 Questions here) cut together of the band recording at Sunset Sound. Give Joe a break, he just learned Imovie. It’s all bringing me back memories of the good old days when we were drugged up kids just trying to not make it! The great part is The Icarus Line is still kicking ass in their older and wiser age, taking names and ripping like a real rock n’ roll band should. This is the sound of DANGER kids! Mystil ain’t got nothing on these white boys!

I really hate being one of those people who always say the old stuff was the best but this is the case with the Icarus Line. Mono and Pennance were amazing albums, but the Black Lives and by the sounds of it JCvsTIL are just going more towards the realms of medocrity (but I have only heard 4 or 5 tracks off the new album so I might be being a bit harsh). Still I have to hand it to them, at least they are doing something different for each album.
