I was at the St. Louis show and was way disappointed they didn't make it. Check out Those Darlins though (they were the opening band for KKBBQ). They definitely didn't disappoint the people who were there.

The Kentucky New Era reports...

Oak Grove police arrested a nationally-known rock musician Thursday afternoon for allegedly possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms.

His band, King Khan & BBQ, was on its way to a show in St. Louis, but is now stuck in Christian County without transportation, booking agent Sam Hunt told the New Era on Friday in a phone interview.

Police arrested Arish Khan, better known as King Khan, or Blacksnake, and his tour manager, Kristin Klein, at 2:20 p.m. Thursday. They booked both suspects on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and Klein on a charge of driving with a suspended license...

------

What foolishness for the tour manager to have a suspended licence... these people had the excuse to carry out a search that otherwise would not have been done.

The New Era continues...

Mark Sultan, the other half of King Khan & BBQ, and a third musician who tours with the band were not booked, but police impounded their vehicle, Hunt said.

Hunt said he knows very little about the band's situation. "They're really hard to reach because only one of them has a cell phone, and it's like almost out of batteries," Hunt said. "The charger is in the car that got taken."

Khan was released after 3 a.m. Friday, a jail spokesman said. Klein was still being held on a $3,000 cash bond Friday afternoon. Hunt said the band members spent part of Friday meeting with a lawyer, "just trying to get their situation straight."

About 300 people bought tickets for Thursday night's show, Hunt said. He said the band touring with King Khan and a band from St.

Louis performed instead.

Hunt said Khan and Klein have a court hearing scheduled for Monday. He said the band won't make it to its show in Lawrence, Kan., scheduled for Friday night, and will likely cancel the rest of the tour.

"I'd kind of be surprised if they played again," Hunt said. "It's been a real drag, you know? It's been a real shame for a lot of reasons. They'll probably never set foot in Kentucky again."
