  • KK & BBQ are done? FUCK

  • I Think there could be a reunion…in 2020 bought together by some black lips between friends. Drug busts make you better friends. BBQ Sultan is a king and khan is a king

  • Or BBQ could go solo, and write killer songs, (there could be a battle for band supremacy). Khan will go to sth America and start a colony of twin rock gospel kids

  • Man,
In person, you guys are always soooo nice. I’m glad you think you are ’shocking’, etc… Cool. And I know you love writing fake gossip and that that is salacious and ‘kwazy’ to you, but FUCK YOU for writing lies, knowing that more of your geek friends will perpetuate the lies further on their own faceless blogs and cowardly websites, knowing people will believe it, facetious joke or not. We get enough of that shit without ‘fans’ doing it. The King Khan & BBQ Show has NOT broken up, nor do we hate each other. We tour Europe in 2 weeks. And will be doing a million other things this year. Next time you wanna suck up after a show, be prepared for a different reaction from me and Khan.
I’m sure now you will ‘cut me up’ – ZING! and get your yucks, but fuck, dude. Quit it. Every time someone show me lies or sensationalism from your site, I cringe. Is this your way of being ‘part of the scene’ or more your way of punishing the people who wouldn’t let you into their scene when you had no Buddyhead?
We have always been nice with you guys. What a surprise that you overstep.
    Mark

  • Hey Mark, I saw you guys on Halloween in Chicago in 2008, it kicked ass.

  • Mark, I appreciate your enthusiasm but just to let you know, a lot of people, including me, would never have even heard of your band if it wasn’t for the head.

    Anyways, see you in NC

  • Well, Jonny, we aren’t trying to reach people who find bands on these sites, but I am glad you think we need you to have a ‘fanbase’. I also am glad you think we didn’t have many ‘fans’ outside of those who read ‘the head’. Thing is we have been doing fine without Jonny-come-latelys (forgive the pun) since we started in 2003 or 2004. I appreciate YOUR enthusiasm. And snarkiness.

  • Patting yourself on the back for your perceived ‘breaking of our band’ is funny. But i will accept it and excuse you. What isn’t so funny is to think that would mean we are at the mercy, then, of whatever bullshit is written about us here. I know,i know… You got my goat! Fact is, I wouldn’t care so much if I didn’t know that when i meet these dudes, they seem to genuinely care about the music. Anyway, I’m over it.

  • Hey Mark,

Take a pill dude. In fact take a handful buddy. You’re flipping out here over a little error. Sorry I made a mistake but it looks like you’re slinging more shit here than I am. I heard you guys broke up, I was bummed. I’m a huge fan. I’m glad you’re not. It’s ok buddy, we can all be friends. Can’t we?

Well for the record I’ve never sucked up after a show… in fact you’ve never met me, I live in Los Angeles. You know, you city you didn’t make it to this tour cuz you dudes didn’t know where to put the drugs in your van. And I’ve been doing this site since 1997 so I wasn’t “trying to get into your scene before I had Buddyhead”. I think you’re misunderstanding my reasons for writing about your band here dude. The only reason I’ve ever typed anything out about you dudes is outta total love for your music that’s it. It’s not like someone is cutting me a paycheck here. I’m really sorry if I’m not cool enough or the people that read this site aren’t cool enough to like your band. Sure hope that crowd at Coachella full of frat dudes you play to are killer bros though. Sorry I wasn’t at your first show. Fuckin’ sue me cool police.

    Suck my dick.

    Love,
    Travis

  • Oh and if you wanna deal with this like adults, instead of posting in the comments… USE EMAIL and hit me up travis@buddyhead.com. It only take a bit more effort. Plus I’m half Canadian too man. We’re like of the same Canuck blood almost. Lighten up party-monster.

  • You’re right about a lot of things Mark. But it doesn’t change the fact that, athough mabe misguided, Travis is helping you out man. Doesn’t matter if you think you need it. Same team man, same team.

  • Glad to see Mark still goes off at an olympic level.

  • “Oh and if you wanna deal with this like adults, instead of posting in the comments… USE EMAIL.” Okay, so when you heard the rumour that they’d split up why didn’t YOU use email to have Mark or Khan either confirm or refute it? Why not just apologise for the mistake YOU made instead of turning a misunderstanding into a feud?

  • lol’in
bro needs to take a handful of chill pills
it’s not like you were trying to start shit or anything
    hopefully y’all work it out

  • Hey Murray,

I don’t have every email of every band I write about, I hear this from a reliable source and was honestly bummed. My email is all over this site, it’s pretty easy to find. I’m not saying I’m sorry cuz frankly I’m not sorry. Anyone that gets pussy hurt over two sentences that were written only so people would CHECK THEIR BAND OUT can fuckin’ deal with it. Your first name isn’t Bill right?

  • Oh Eminem Jee. Double U Tee Eff. Bee Bee Q.

Listen to Slayer, get a clue and shut the fuck up Morky Mork.

  • “I don’t have every email of every band I write about.” No, but it’s not difficult to find contacts for people and it’s not difficult to get hold of Mark or Khan. You’re being a dick.

  • welcome to the internet, dude. it sucks. rumors fly, relationships are not official until the status update has been changed, people can anonymously talk shit without repercussions and TMZ influences us much more than anyone would care to admit. sadly you had the power for a quick fix to what ails ya, and dropped the ball. “Mark Sultan here. no break up. all’s good. and we’re still the best. thanks.” DONE!! rub one out and pop a victory Xanax. fair play to you.

there is nothing better than discovering a new band. a great new band, even. who really cares how long or how you did? but in a strange bit of role reversal i, in fact, discovered Buddyhead because of you, sir. they really loved and pushed your music (that and a couple of the ‘head interns crash in my apartment building from time to time and always have the good drugs. sue me) but maybe you don’t really play to my ‘types’ because that’s not exactly how you intended for me to discover/support your music.

i follow you guys on the internet. awesome musicians that are always playing in one way, band or another. why the fuck wouldn’t I? the ‘que and khan got busted for drugs? not playing LA? thanks internet. hope everything works out. and it’s even you, my obviously internet savvy friend, who openly blasted the Detroit Cobras on your sites about the tour you were on a couple years back. (correct me if I’m wrong) but I’m pretty sure you openly talked about how you felt that you were being unfairly treated by the Cobras and did the whole touring thing to make a living to support your family. now i guess you don’t really need me to buy your records anymore or a ‘fanbase’ to buy tickets and merch to help you make a living. just an internet forum and sand in your vag.

  • king khan and bbq don’t need the fuckin internets!! they will be happy to go back to playing in their mom’s backyard.

priceless. if it wasn’t for the internet, these dudes would be selling me shoes at fucking payless. i mean, it’s an awesome little richard impression and all, but seriously you ain’t the pope, homey.

  • I’m just glad the great thinkers of the cyberworld have all taken time from their ambitiously busy schedules and have convened on this forum to deliberate on the moral dilemmas one faces and the moral obligations one is compelled to fulfill daily when posting on or reading music blogs. King Solomon would be proud.

  • First heard of the band thanks to me goin’ to shows in Memphis and Nawlins all the time. They don’t need internets. They need people in the seats. You think these jokers make money off of this shit? Get real. Money is made touring now, younggunz. Keep it real, Mark.

Travis, you could just erase the shit and move on. Putting a line through it kinda gay2k10, but hey, what do i know? In MS we don’t even have this “net” thing.

  • travis,
you proved my point for me.
once again, i don’t care if your readers or you like me, my bands or my music.
    fuck y’all
    mark

  • well i guess now is not the best time to return to pages of buddyhead with a review of a les sexareeno’s record. but o well, i’m gonna do it anyway.

  • *sigh*

  • kirk,
those were khan’s words re detroit cobras.
    mark
maybe we do work at payless. you don’t think we get rich from this shit, do you? we busted our asses for years doing this shit. now we can live. hate on me all you want. i’ll still be making music or listened to after you’ve moved on to something else. i’ll play parent’s backyards, even. cuz i play music for the love of it. just like i did since there was no buddyhead.
travis. yes. let’s be friends. come say hi next time i’m in LA. talk your shit then.

  • And I don’t really care if you like me either dude. Better guard your beer at Coachella dude.

  • and i like that Mr. Sultan keeps using the term ’scene’, and the rest of us refer to it as ‘music’.

  • @Mississippi is Better Than You Hey dude if I didn’t leave it and put a line through it people reading it after I changed it wouldn’t have a reference point for my error. Got it? Now it makes sense to everyone what happened here… real important I know.

@Mark Dude, again I wasn’t talking shit… I was posting your tour dates and getting kids “you don’t want to know about your band” to go to your shows. I’m totally still a fan, I just think you’re kinda of a pussy about all this. I got some information wrong, big deal. It’s not like I called you guys dick lickers and posers. But I promise if you do make it to LA ever, I’ll totally come say hi. First round on me.

@Murray I don’t have that kinda time. If someone starts paying me I’ll fact check… but for now this is the fuckin’ internet deal with it pussylips.

  • I acknowledge that we are ‘bigger’ now than we would have been without the internet and things like buddyhead. and for that i AM thankful, to an extent. yes. it means NOT being homeless, etc… my point is more that i play music and will play it even when you all move on to something else and we or play tiny venues or ditches. so YOU guys might wanna chill.
i do listen to slayer. but i prefer ‘black witchery’.

  • I do think its safe to say that everyone at the ‘head digs your tunes mark, from the Spaceshits to the present.

  • Sucks he’s not coming to FL again. I missed him the last time and I heard the show was great.

  • Hey Mark. Doesn’t your band only play tiny venues? Congrats on landing a Coachella slot, but I needed a magnifying glass to see your band on the bill and you’re gonna be playing while most idiots that bought a ticket are still sleeping off their hangover. You should be glad ANYBODY cares about your band. Think about this, a bunch of people thought you did break up and NEWSFLASH: life went on and NOBODY cared. You’re a pussy, and I’ll meet you in any dark alley of your choosing to tell you so to your face.

  • “Dude who Bangs Mark Sultan’s Mom” is such a pussy. You most likely live in an alley. So Mark should just drop by your crib where you and your mom share a bunk bed. I bet your band that you play on Guitar Hero is waaay better than Mark’s band. Have fun at the Dollar or Less Store tonight, maybe your mom will drop by to bring your favorite sandwich, PB&J with the crusts removed. Loser.

  • Hey now… Mark and I made up via email… it’s all good. I said sorry, he kinda said sorry. We’re doing an interview. Stop fighting kids. Play nice.

  • /thread

  • fuck the post this whole comment feud was fucking wayyy more interesting.

AND TRAVIS I KINDA WANNA BE MAD BECAUSE DIOS AREN’T PLAYING COCHELLA. AND I JUST KINDA WANNA BLAME YOU, SORRY.

  • Like I have pull. Get real. They’ll be playing the Vestal after party like Friday and/or Saturday night like two blocks from Coachella. Come to that, don’t be a puss.

  • Who’s Mark Sultan? Why’s he being a dick?

  • Hey Mork Sultan dude, it’s time to get back to your tech support job.

  • it took me almost 15 minutes to figure out that this dude wasn’t in the Sultans.

  • dios played coachella like three years ago, right after Ronald James staked his claim to God’s name. And that was during travis’ “bender”, wasn’t it?

  • dudes! you dudes are totally dudeing each other chill out and be a dude, dude! cant we all just be dudes together? i mean duuuude.

  • i would liked the band just fine even if they broke up and hated each other. I like the band less when one of the dudes freaks out like he was axl and you were the paparazzi or some shit. kinda liked your band, but nobody really cares that much about this shit. band members should not be allowed to be douches on the internet, it fucks shit up.

  • [...] King Khan and The Shrines tour their way to Coachella [...]

  • I saw King Khan and the BBQ show at Northside Tavern in Cincinnati and thought they kinda sucked especially compared to their opening act Those Darlins. The chicks in Those Darlins are fucking awesome. Give them chicks some love Buddthead.

  • This is why the internet was invented. I can’t figure out if this is real or just a put on to promote something. I feel like I’m getting sold something here. But who cares. Mark Sultan kills.

  • yeah man, that’s a bummer. this guy sounds like a self important pee pee kisser. It’s only rock n’ roll. no one is curing cancer here.

  • this was highly entertaining …. the last time I saw Khan he was opening for us in Germany then running onstage on a tutu he stole from one of our dancers. Sometimes I think he can do no wrong … I don’t know Mark but now I have something to look forward to …

  • I think it would be prudent to just delete all this BS…

Man the new KK&BBQ video, for the track off Invisible Girl, blew my mind… because I somehow always thought it was at least a three piece, but it’s just the two of them.

Anyways, I’d say both of you handled this poorly, but it was kind of the equivalent of someone bumping into your beer, then pushing them and escalating things. Now at that point that person who elbowed the other dude’s beer and got pushed for it has a choice: stir the fire further with this guy or just blow it off. I guess for talking shit on the internet you don’t go to jail like you do for physical assault (or the hospital), so maybe there’s less reason to blow it off, but I’m a fan of keeping the peace. Unless I’m hammered.

In any case, Mark Sultan is the Sultan, and I’m a fan of the music.

  • woooow…by the end of all these fucked comments I totally forgot how I even got to this article….I saw something on king khan…and i thought “cool….I live near coachella”…..then all this shit. The internet is a monster. kkandbbq show is great but obviously it doesn’t matter what i think. Travis was right about coachella fest though…..too hard to sort through all the douche bags and hipsters for the real fans of music……most music fans can’t afford the ticket anyways just to see only 10 percent of the actual good acts on the roster…..it’s good for getting a national spotlight or whatever but mark’s gonna do it the way he’s always done it so it doesn’t really matter…..

I met king khan once at a black lips show before I knew who he was a couple years back. I think he got pissed. Later on i was like “oh shit” but at the time he was acting like a dick after he threw a beer bottle at jared’s head…..i guess that’s just how the almighty defenders show their love to one another……

  • It may be that Coachella is full of “douche bags and hipsters” but if some of them get turned on to real rock and roll, properly, really dig it and not just because they think it’s “hip” or whatever, then that ain’t a bad thing. After the White Stripes went over big, loads of hipster kids started going to see them, but some of them were started on a journey, digging out the original sixties garage sounds, learning, educating themselves, getting into this stuff for real. I’m sure some of you want this stuff to stay small, your own exclusive, cool club. But that would make you as much a douche bag and hipster as they are.

  • Blah, Blah, Blah. Mark Sultan wants to act like he’s a fucking rock star, and in all reality the only people who give a fuck are people who find out about him from alternative media (did i miss the 5 page interview in rolling stone or the cover of life magazine, or something?), Lay off the blow for just a sec, come down to earth, and realize that 3 years from now, noone’s going to care who you are, and you’ll end up working some shit job trying to impress your coworkers with stories about how you were in “a band, but we didn’t make it”.

Just shut the fuck up, please.

  • how dare you bring up the white stripes…..i could give a fuck…..with their fucking 300 dollar documentary package……that’s fucking prudent isn’t it? now they’re pandering right to those douche bag music elitists themselves…..and that shitty ass band the dead weather……jack white looking like johnny depp from alice in wonderland (which in and of itself looks like a drag queen mad hatter)……that’s one of those bands that’s cool to like rather than liking because they’re cool……the music’s aweful but most people wont admit….

as for coachella….yeah it’s cool sometimes and sporadically throughout the day….but who gives a shit. Spending one hot ass day outdoors isn’t gonna change anybody’s music taste that much……You’d probably have a good idea of what you like beforehand anyways dick so don’t make it out to be such a huge thing. as for small clubs……what does that matter….rock’n'roll is one of those things that’ll stay under the radar for years and years no matter who’s listening…..some people will do it better than others and it’s cool to see them mature and make better records….look at jay reatard’s career arc from the reatards to his solo shit…..there was a huge transformation there…..I’m not against that….but when you talk about bands like the white stripes opening up people’s minds or whatever…..good for them…I hope that works out for them paying so much money to keep them cool….

  • Victor, you’re a dick. I was talking about the White Stripes at the point when they weren’t yet total douche bags, back in 2001-02, not right now. You obviously are incapable of reading English and comprehending what the words actually mean.

  • King Khan is definitely the real deal – so it doesn’t matter that some petty feud erupted here. Coachella is fine if you can enjoy your music in a festival setting.

I think it is kind of cool or unique that Buddyhead has hyped King Khan to the extent they have considering they were signed by rival hipster brand “Vice” – or is that a clueless way to put it? Whatever – while we may NOT be able to all get along – I for one will continue to peruse Bhead and attend KK gigs when they are at clubs – that does suck how Gvoice insists on the bands not playing other dates – a really really cool underground band would JUST DO SO ANYWAYS! LIKE By PlayING a Party – IN FACT KING KHAN did do that not too long ago when they did a wedding party during an LA jaunt.

    Shane

  • oh bbq, why are you being a grumpy gus? it makes me sad that a seemingly cool dude would have that pathetic of a freakout.

  • I came across this piece randomly, I don’t read Buddyhead, the content is catered towards fucking geeks and people who think they’re clever (seriously, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit).

But Travis, you’re a cunt, man. You are STILL talking shit, “He _kinda_ said sorry.” Quit throwing your toys out of your crib. I know you think you’re so cool and 80% of the geeks that read your site will suck your dick and back you up, but c’mon, get off your high horse.

I hope everyone realizes that Mark Sultan and King Khan are honest, legitimate and passionate musicians who bust their asses putting out records. Now, compare that to some dork who writes for an e-zine.

As a journalist, I wouldn’t be trying to do what Travis is doing, “Hey man, fuck you too!” I’d correct my fucking error, apologize and I wouldn’t allow every fucking geek that reads my site to try and slander a musician like Mark Sultan even more.

Your error shows your lack of professionalism, your inability to promptly correct it and apologize shows how petty you are, the general consensus amongst your readers and loyal geek followers shows the mentality represented on the site, and Mark Sultan had every right to bitch about some stupid rumor that some jackass who thinks he’s clever put on his fucking e-zine.

Suck a dick you fags. You don’t know shit about music and you’ve never done anything for any music scene. Oh, other than congratulate yourself.

  • @Victor and Murray, how is Jack White a douchebag? Is it because he consistently puts out great music? I don’t see how he has compromised his integrity because he’s had success and made a lot of money. Yeah, so the Dead Weather album isn’t my favorite project of his, but its still better than most of the bullshit released recently.

Murray, I understood the point you were making, but later you said he wasn’t a douche and now is.

Victor is obviously just a stupid cunt. Your point was that White stripes are popular because they are hip and not because their music is good and I think thats a crock of shit. Your other point is that they make a lot of money. So what?

@Ryan: You’re a cunt. I’m sick of people who’s point is that everyone who writes anything on the internet is a geek (you just posted on the comment board, I don’t believe that you randomly stumbled on it, geek). If everything said on this site is meaningless, why do you and the Sultan guy give a shit?

  • Ryan?
    Ryan Schreiber??
Well, if it is you I just wanna ask….
How come you pusses don’t let us geeks comment on your website?
Buddyhead would be a much quieter place……

  • @ Bob Vila – When I stated my belief that Jack White is now a douchebag it was from very personal experience, that’s all I’m saying; not just my perception of him through his recordings or anything that’s been said in the press or on some crappy website. Personal experience.

  • @ Ryan – you got it right, man. apart from calling people “fags”. That ain’t cool. A lot of fags I know could beat you fuckers with one hand tied behind their backs.

  • this shit is hilarious. i don’t listen to the king khan and bbq for mark or khans glowing personality, so i wouldn’t be the first to say “fuck mark sultan” on this site. i listen to bbq and kk projects because it’s music that sounds awesome. the people getting all bent out of shape about this are fucking idiots. eat a dick, and stop treating sites like this like TMZ or E! or something. also, thanks for the laughs, these comments always make me laugh so hard.

  • How can anyone be so foolish as to say that they broke up when their own website made it clear that they were going to tour. Considering that they’ve been together in bands during 12 of the last 15 years I think the standard of proof needed to claim that there are irreconcilable differences that will rupture the band would have to be very high. As it is, simple fact checking would have extinguished any such ridiculous notion.

I know some of you people will think that these people need to be told that they will never amount to anything and that this long time in this racket proves that they won’t amount to anything but I don’t think they really care what anyone thinks about their chances of achieving greater things in the music racket.
