When people ask if I’m into Tom Waits, I like to tell people I’m saving getting into Tom Waits until I’m really old so I still have some cool records to discover when my ass is a bunch of wrinkles and I reek of that weird grandpa smell. What the fuck is that smell by the way? Why do all old people smell the same? 9th wonder of the world. As a kid, I always wished Tom Waits was my dad. Bizarre right? I dunno how that started in my head, but looking back now I think it’s a pretty funny idea. Instead of Tom I got stuck with a track coach dad who never listened to and loved to yell (hence why I don’t talk to the dude anymore), I guess you can’t win em all eh? At least my mom is cool.

Anyways, I like Tom Waits. “Rain Dogs” is a great record as are some of his newer ones on Anti. I’ve just never gotten totally obsessed with him and got even single one of his records like some people I know… cough*Marko*cough… at this point in my life I’d just rather listen to late era Dylan if I wanna hear a mumbling cool old guy.

Anyways, on November 23rd, Tom is putting out a 2 disc collection of live songs from his summer 2008 tour called “Glitter and Doom” on Mr. Brett’s label (Anti).
