  • these dudes BLOW. perfect review.

  • Probably the best review I have ever seen. Probably has 8x more artistic merit than what it’s reviewing.

  • nice! DAWN OF THE DEAD head explosion

  • You dudes at Buddyhead should do every review like this for all the bands not worthy of dialog.

    bravo!

  • Who the fuck thought it would be a good idea for grown men to wear eye liner?

  • Wow, this was a pretty great review… now if only you glorious has-beens could stop tricking yourself into getting wet for unfortunate douche-nozzles like No Bunny and Jay the Retard. Seriously.

  • i’m sending the wolf

  • Having not even heard the album, I completely agree with your review.

  • What is up with hot topic?and their employees?i know some of us need a job but damn.it sucks in there and my big ass doesnt even fit in the aisles.too bad i cant wear a pair of skinny jeans and get an expensive hair cut and dye job.im sooo out of touch.damn..

  • I’m going to be the lone voice in the wilderness and actually give Green Day some props, while other modern pop-punk have either continually made the same album for like 15 years or have devolved into some shitty second rate new wave revival band or have outright sucked ass,Green Day has actually put out some solid stuff over the years,Don’t get me wrong lots of times hearing their music is ultra fucking annoying and there’s no doubt we’ll get even more annoyed by this song(as we’ll hear it everywhere, for the next few months, and this song is really lame),but the fruitcakes have been able to pull a memorable song out of their collective asses every now and then and have also put out some fine albums,Dookie despite what everybody wants to believe is a great album, just great Pop-punk,and their other albums have been solid as well, but I know everybody here blames Greenday for the Emo/Pop-punk trend of the last few years, and that is kinda of fair, but that is like blaming Nirvana for all the mediocre bands that came out the wake of grunge, but Chip’s analysis is nonetheless brillant, and they will no doubt win a shit-load of shammy’s and they are considered like The Beatles of Hot-Topic set,and if you do listen to that “know your enemy” song too much you will want to suck on the buisness end of a glock, but more importantly Go Nuggets!!!

  • Haha… What a refreshing review this was. : )

  • Green Day’s current nonsense (and most of the past nonsense) is worlds away from Gilman st. Isn’t this the dictionary definition of selling out?

  • Music snobs are funny….

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HA FUCKING HA.
    genius

  • apparently giving some thought to what kind of music you like is snobby. the article “said” it all.

  • i wish green day cut the american epic bullshit. go back to the old stuff guys.

  • ! That was awesome. Too bad some people won’t get it. It makes me sick just thinking about how many people are actually going to fall for this. These guys should’ve called it quits a LONG time ago.

  • I liked Green Day up until late 2005 when you couldn’t go three miloes without hearing something off of American Idiot. I even thought AI was a good album. Call it maturing or whatever, but I could not get excited over this new release, and I can’t even bting myself to listen to anything else they’ve done lately.

21st Century Breakdown seems like a play it safe card. Instead of tearing it all down or branching out, they decide to do another rock opera with nearly the same formula as American Idiot, for that, I can’t respect them. Even if the album is decent, I won’t care because I’ve seen it all before with American Idiot. Basically they’re gunning for the grammy and are now going to be that band that your dad listens to because he wants to be cool and “hip”. They’re going to be that band who continue to have bracelets and hats with the logo’s on them selling at truck stops right next to the beef jerky.

There’s nothing wrong with selling out, but at least make something good to listen to and make sure you didn’t do the same thing five years ago. I know the current state of the world isn’t the greatest, but I don’t need Pop-Punk Springsteen/U2 type of music to preach to me. I’ll just listen to Born In The USA.

  • Hey chewie

I’m pretty sure Iggy is the one who said its okay for grown men to wear eyeliner…….. I think another cat from the sevs name david was down too….oh and um alice….and another bro fromup north named kurt….its cool

  • Well played, Chip. Well played.

  • Fucking spot on review of a band that I think has been complete shit for as long as I can remember.

  • Aren’t you cool. Hating Green Day. Its a pop-punk band. And the typical comments about hottopic and eyeliner and selling out. N of that has anything to do with good pop music. Are people like Iggy Pop and Penelope Houston sell outs too for recording with them?

  • you tell em’, roc. give em’ your 2 cents. chip will think twice next time he wants to write bad things about green day on the internet.
