Drugs Not Jobs! Spiritualized with a new record in 2010!
Where the fuck do I get a shirt that cool? I may have to rip that off and make Buddyhead shirts that say “Drugs Not Jobs”.
Aside from owning really cool t-shirts, Spiritualized front-man, Jason Pierce has been yappin’ his jaw about a new record from the band next year in 2010. But who knows, right? Dude could just be really high and runnin’ his mouth off! Let’s hope for the best… cross your fingers and pray to your God (if you’re dumb enough to have one). According to those sharp blokes over at The Quietus, when they interviewed Jason not only did he reveal that the band might birth a new album sometime next year but he admitted that the new record has been inspired by the forthcoming reissue of Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. Fuck yeah!
And for the record, fuck everyone who thinks the last three Spiritualized record aren’t great. They’re each totally different and they’re each totally amazing in their own right.
When asked if listening to Ladies And Gentlemen… had inspired him to work on a similar sounding record now, he replied:
“Not like it – not to go ‘Oh, let’s do that’. I’m not a big believer in backward steps, or thinking ‘Well, that worked then, let’s do it again’. But, I am making a record. And I’d be lying if…it’s very weird to lay out something you did 12 years ago in all its complexity and then get inside it enough to be able to play it live, and not have that get into some of the newer stuff we’re doing. It’s early days. We’ve put down some great, great songs…I think what [listening to] Ladies And Gentlemen… has done is raised the bar in a different way. Rather than just copying the sonics of that record and saying ‘How did we used to do it?’ or ‘We used to do it like this’, it’s raised the bar, and I think that’s good. It’s looking good, but you know when you’ve finished. We shall see.”
We can’t fuckin’ wait Jason. Good dope, good fun!
