Devendra Banhart has new songs & really likes Oasis.

Weather you like his music or not, you can’t deny that Devendra Banhart is a P-I-M-P! He’s accomplished something millions of males world-wide have fantasied about, jerked it to and dreamed about. Yep, he got up in Natalie Portman’s guts and got fully weird with her. You know he talked her into hitting his six-foot tall water bong and then blew stoney “maps-of-Hawaii” all over her stomach like confetti on New Years Eve. Not only did he get up in there, but he did it dressed like that! Bonus point in the style department for sure. Anyone who can rock a ponytail with those baby blue short-shorts (pictured above) and not get laughed outta the room (let alone nail Queen Amidala from Star Wars) is a legend. Chicks can’t get enough of this dude and he’s wearing their shorts… wrap your mind around that one!
Yeah this dude just keeps on winning. Now he’s on the same label as music alumni such as Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, New Order, The White Stripes, Cher, Devo, Paris Hilton, Har Mar Superstar, The Mars Volta, Metallica, Van Morrison, Lou Reed, R.E.M. and others. Yep, Devendra’s on a major label. Dude is getting major paid now, as wel as getting major laid! His first record for the label will be titled “What Will We Be” and it’ll hit stores (and places you buy music digitally) on October 27th, 2009. Looks like drinks are on you next time we party, eh Devendra?

The new album was co-produced by Devendra Banhart, acid, mushrooms, Paul Butler from A Band of Bees and a shit-ton of marijuana. It was recorded up in Topanga Canyon because they wanted to get that Charles Manson, Jim Jones, drink the Kool-Aid and let’s paint “PIGS” in blood on people’s walls vibe. Well mission accomplished, that’s the vibe I’m getting and I ain’t drinkin’ no Kool-Aid folks. Rejoining Banhart are old band mates Noah Georgeson, Greg Rogove, Luckey Remington, and Rodrigo Amarante, all those dudes were on his last album, “Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon”. So if you liked that one, you’ll prolly like this one. Check out the song “Baby” from the upcoming record by downloading it below.
Now the real reason for this post: In case you missed this when it came out a year ago (we did somehow), Devendra recorded a cover of Oasis’s “Don’t Look Back In Anger” for last year’s Guilty By Association compilation. Seeing as how Oasis isn’t out there playing this song anymore, we are happy that at least Devendra and his cult are. Yo Devendra, this better be in your setlist permanently bro, best song you got in your arsenal. instant party whenever you play it. Next show we’re gonna be the guys yelling “DON’T LOOK BACK IN ANGER!” in between every single song until it gets played.
