David Pajo covers The Misfits. Rules!

I love the Misfits.

David Pajo, who you might know from Slint (or from his current day job as the fourth touring dude in Yeah Yeah Yeahs), has reworked a bunch of Misfits songs and stripped em down to sound allot like Elliott Smith songs. If you didn’t already know you’d never guess that Glenn Danzig wrote these little dittys. You can buy “Scream With Me” (on vinyl only) from our friends at Black Tent Press. Hit em up, tell em Buddyhead sent you. Totally worth it. Make sure to hit up David’s myspace for mre songs you can stream from your creepy area.

Watch this video of PAJO doing “Where Eagles Dare” by Maximilla Lukacs.

  • I liked this shit better when Mike Hale was doing it.

  • I dig it!

  • What, no “Don’t Open ‘Til Doomsday” or “American Psycho” covers?

But seriously, turning fun, catchy songs into tame, whispered coffee-shop mix-tape material is as tacky, dated and irrelevant as anything else that the Misfits have been responsible for in the past 15 years (namely turning their fan-base into being a smidge above ICP fans). And anyway, aren’t the Slint guys well into their poser cross-over thrash phase? I’m surprised it’s not acoustic reworkings of Leeway or Angelripper songs.

  • how can you strip down a misfits song? nothing against elliot smith but this is pointless! kind of like jim james covering george harrison songs.

  • Sgt Kaboom – Probably because neither song is by the real Misfits..

  • Think that’s why he said “But seriously…”, eh.

  • can he redo “horror business” live and say “one more fucking time you asshole and you die!”

  • I’m all about this. it sounds so sensitive. hahaha!

  • Almost as good as Scarlett Johanson doing a Tom Waits cover album.

  • Wasn’t this out months ago? Thanks for the heads up

  • cover art inspired by jacob bannon rip off? i didn’t mind these at all. hmm.

  • Not the “real” Misfits? Michale Graves is as “real” as it gets, son. If you don’t believe me, just check out any in the series of You Tube videos where he’s playing acoustic in a Borders to, like, three people. It’s like “the Wrestler” but instead of Mickey Rourke, it’s a kinda sad, conservative Republican guy who looks like he’s in a shitty grunge band and was in the second, silly version of a beloved band for about three years.

  • he also does a great cover of “Last Caress” when he was PAPA M. Hole of Burning Alms is the Album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z12EZ0IjNrM
