Autolux Reveal Transit Transit Track List, Announce Show With Thom Yorke
Hurry the fuck up, Autolux. As things lie right now you’re kinda in league with Axl Rose and that last record he finally squeezed out. Autolux are gonna be one of those bands that puts out an album once every ten years; I heard they hang out in some black hole and play with effects pedals and imitate each other singing so they all sound like the same she-male. True story.
Anyway.
Back in January, I attended Buddyhead’s monthly show at the Hotel Cafe to watch Slang Chickens and Mini Mansions. I walked in and saw a lady wearing a shiny silver dress–it could only be Carla Azar, bionic drum machine of Autolux. She was hanging out with a short, skinny dude with bleached-blonde hair and a complexion as white as a never-nude’s ass. Travis came over and informed me that said pale blonde was, in fact, Thom Yorke, and then called me a nerd for whipping my head around to gawk.
Later that same night, I met some friends at The Bar on Bronson and Sunset. I walked in to find Carla and Thom hanging out in a booth. Coincidence? I went up to them and asked Carla when “Transit Transit” was getting released. “Sometime in March,” she said. My friends and I then had the distinct pleasure of watching Thom Yorke spin an impromptu DJ set. Dude got really into it and looked like he was having a seizure, shaking his bleached head and wiggling his arms.
Which leads me to the point of this post: despite what Carla told me, Autolux have no official release date set for “Transit Transit“, but Thom Yorke has asked Autolux to open for him and his new live outfit, Atoms For Peace, at the Santa Barbara Bowl on April 17, 2010. (Tickets here.)
Autolux will also be playing a couple of their own shows the week before that show. More information will be announced soon.
The band has also offered the official track list of Transit Transit. Check it:
