AA Bondy records four ones for Daytrotter! A Frazzled Psyche, A Soul To Guard
They had AA Bondy come in and bust out live versions of four songsrom f his latest full length player and Mr. Bondy with the help of his band fully DELIVERED! I actually like these versions better than the ones on the album, the band has taken these songs to the next level and fill them out quite nicely. I really like the builds and the dynamics in these versions (download em for yourself at the bottom of this page). I’d be really surprised if you weren’t already hip to this cat and cranking his soul-ful tunes during your latest make-out sessions. But if you are in the dark when it comes to my friend here… please do a google search and catch yourself up. Or fuck it, just search Buddyhead and read the numerous posts where I’ve jacked him off with my words. Dude totally thinks I’m a freak.
AA Bondy is to the current music scene what a vaginal douche is to Jenna Jameson’s beat up private area. Mr. Bondy is a blast of fresh goodness in an otherwise polluted and disgustingly boring landscape. I think that this man is greatly needed in these vapid, shallow, broke and bleak times we live in. I just wish more people knew about this man, his beat-like lyrics, his sense of humor (that doesn’t really come out in his songs but for sure does in his interviews – like this one) and most importantly his songs. They’re the kind songs you feel like you’ve always known, yet at the same time they feel extremely fresh and new. See how I tied it back into the douche comment at the beggining? Now that’s music journalism 101 kids!
Speaking of music journalism… here’s where I get cliche and compare this dude to Dylan (again), but much like what Dylan says at one part in “No Direction Home” about not really being able to take credit for writing his own songs, I feel like AA Bondy is similar. If he isn’t don’t tell me and ruin my little nerd rock n’ roll fantasy. It sure seems to me that this dude has to be tapping into something, call it a higher power or a collective uncouncious… whatever it is, it knows how to make this kid rock and sing the blues better than anyone else of our generation.
If you don’t already own them, do yourself a favor and buy “American Hearts” and “When The Devil’s Loose” (which features the four songs below).
