September 24, 2011 – Freak City LA – Hollywood, CA – A Buddyhead Session

“We were introduced to Stab City via Travis Keller of Buddyhead.com. It was an introduction made on the phone at an ungodly hour of the night. I believe I was in quite a fuzz, and I have no doubt that my counterparts in the conversation were just as fuzzy. We made a loose plan, Travis was going to show up to Freak City to DJ on the 24th and he would host the Stab City session. I don’t remember the exact call time for Travis, but let’s just say it was not a “telephone at 10pm sounding pretty out of it and saying that you were walking towards the subway” call time. So Stab City came without their emissary that evening, and Bobby Vega, drummer for the band, took on the role of introducing their powerful brand of thrash rock to the Jam Van World. Turns out these upstanding young men needed no chaperone. Bobby was able to command the English language well enough to introduce his band, and to make faces while playing the drums that are wild enough to have a small child in tears. It was a perfect finish to a long day in a filthy drug syringe riddled alley. I’m sure you’ll all agree, there’s no better way to clean out your head than to thrash, repeat, thrash, repeat. Enjoy the first of what we hope will be many Buddyhead sessions to come.”
