You’ve Been Trumped

I saw the story on this situation on HBO’s “Real Sports” a few years ago.  This documentary is definitely overdramatizing the whole situation (obviously to get more people to see it).  Basically Trump is building this amazing golf course in Scotland and one old dude refuses to sell his tiny shack of a house that interferes with the golf course, even though he’s been offered a ton of money for it.  Its pretty simple, if I were a rich dude and was working on something like that and one asshole ruined it because he wouldn’t sell his shack for a million bucks, I’d be pissed too!

As far as the environmental thing goes, nobody gives a shit when Best
Buy or any other big company clears land and forests to put their giant
stores anywhere, so why are they making a big deal out of it now?  Do you realize how much deforestation goes on every day by corporate America?  Not that its a good thing, but the only reason they are in an uproar is to smear Trump.

I’m not saying Trump isn’t an asshole (ok, I admit I love apprentice, its not something I shout off of rooftops, but I just like it).  His 15 minute presidential run was embarrassing, and ended with Obama easily making him look like a dumbass.  I consider myself to be mostly liberal, and when someone on the left makes a stupid movie like this, just to shit on a rich guy, it takes credibility away from Democrats, just like the ridiculous Fox news commentary takes away from Republicans.  So I prefer that my fellow Democrats use sensibility instead of sensationalism.  9/11 Truthers, Political Science professors, and hippies everywhere are gonna be totally stoked on this movie.

…but golf fucking sucks!

i am none of those things, but a dude who lives in his house for 44 years and doesn’t want to sell isn’t an asshole. it’s his land and using coercive tactics to get him out (denying him water) is not only wrong but illegal. for some people, their home matters more than a pile of money. donald trump is an asshole and the apprentice sucks sweaty nutsack. donald trump sucked up to the birthers, during his campaign, and, as a wise meathead has observed, the birthers are pretty much the cousins of the 9/11 truthers. of course real sports did a story that is in favor of it, think about it for a second. so, your logic is that unless every person who has environmental concerns makes a big fuss about every time a tree gets chopped down, they have no right to complain? the people who made this film are scots. this happened in scotland. of course they don’t like trump, but how do you get this being a smear and tie this into best buy? they have a right to show what they filmed and show the world what they have to say, just as much as trump does. a smear campaign is when someone tries to undermine a person’s credibility, since when did donald trump have any of that? smear campaigns also tend to deal in throwing around untrue or unverifiable rumors (you know, like claiming someone wasn’t born in the US because he doesn’t have a long form birth certificate?) since this is on camera, what part of this is untrue?

golf is one of the most boring “sports” ever invented. 

You make a lot of good points. Its nice having a disagreement with someone who can defend themselves with some solid logic. I’m not trying to say Donald Trump is a great man or anything like that.  I agree he’s an egotistical asshole.  The thing that bugs me about this is that instead of dealing with the main issue of the man not wanting to sell his house, (which I guess I can sympathize with, but the house is a total piece of shit, he could buy an awesome house on the ocean in Scottland for the money he was offered) the filmmakers are trying to make it seem like they are these badasses in the preview, like they are defying the police for the sake of truth and justice. 
I watch a lot of documentaries, because I like them.  There are plenty of them where they take their cameras onto private property and they are asked to leave and they don’t, so the police are called, then they are going to show it on their preview and movie that the Police are shutting them down, like its some big conspiracy that their in on, when it was simply because they were trespassing.  Good documentary filmmakers focus on the issue at hand and don’t need to pull stupid stunts like that to make themselves look like victims.
As far as the environmental aspect I spoke about, I’m not for tearing down trees or anything, its just that its sidetracking from the main issue again, which is that the man won’t sell his house.  Anyone who builds a golf course is going to have to tear down trees, it sucks, but my point was that the only reason there is an uproar about that is because its Trump.  If anyone else was building this golf course it would be a non-story.  Its not like he’s putting strip malls on the land.  Its a golf course, which is lame, but people will be out enjoying nature, and in the meanwhile the town will be bringing in tons of jobs and money (just because they got a professor to say that Trump is overestimating the economical impact, doesn’t mean it still won’t be good, or that the professor might be full of shit or have something against Trump).  So my beef here is with the poor film making, the marketing of the film, and the overdramatization of a common real estate issue.

Yeah, golfing is lame, but how can you say its not enjoying nature?  You’re outdoors, there are birds and ducks and swans and shit.  If you’re lucky, there’re snakes and lizards n’ such. I get out about once or twice a year to do it, I’m not apologizing for it.  Fuck off if you don’t like it.  I can listen to cool music and golf a couple times a year.   Why the fuck would hitting a little ball with a club, forbid me from listening to cool music?  Oh yeah, the same generalizations that golfers give to people into cool music is reciprocated.  People who are really cool do what the fuck they want and don’t care what other people think.  If I want to go golfing and listen to Spiritualized, I’ll fucking do it, because I want to.  Its you idiots that have a problem.  In the end, I enjoy sports, business and music.  To you that may clash, but to me, its 3 totally different experiences that I can enjoy and appreciate.  I win.

You seem to know nothing about our historic & current rights of access, your ‘Right to roam’ in
Scotland.
But mostly you know nothing about peoples lack of interest in taking someone elses money when they feel rich enough with what they have.
Infact richer than Trump, because they have what Trump wants & can not get.

You need to look at the mess that Trump has already made.
Scotland is full of Golf Courses, thats not a problem.
Trump is building a town & hotels, & building them were they are not needed or wanted for accomodation. He is building a resort where the Local Plans didnt allow a resort to be built.
If a town of houses for local people was required, it wouldnt be on this important site.The Old guy and the house you talk about is 23 acres.Its his mother & her home, his home & other peoples homes that are involved.He has fishing rights & access rights.Trees dont even enter into the plans.Its sand dunes & a Site of Scentific Interest which was protected.http://goo.gl/LXjvE
