Check out this live recording of Philly’s favorite sons (aside from Joe Burns and Schooly D) doing an aggressive take on Zimmerman’s classic. Dylan has said that “Masters of War” isn’t an “anti-war” song; rather, it’s a “pacifistic song against war.” Sounds like a sniffly case of same-difference to me, Bobby; get into brevity!
This is one of many covers of this song, but it’s probably one you haven’t heard yet, and it certainly brings the song into a new context. It’s not quite as cool as I thought it could be, but it managed to hold my attention for 8-1/2 minutes.
Then again, I might not have been sober.
