According to his website, it looks like Dicky Ashcoft finally stopped listening to his massive ego, pulled his weird looking head out of his ass and dialed up Nick McCabe and said "let’s get the band back together mate!" Fucking finally dude… music is power Dicky and the best music you made is BY FAR with The Verve! This means two things that are both music to my ears. First… NO MORE ADULT CONTEMPORARY SOLO ASHCROFT RECORDS! WOO! Secondly… THE VERVE ARE MAKING A NEW RECORD AND ARE GONNA PLAY SHOWS! SHIT YEAH! Yep, the original line-up (Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Sailsbury) were back together (first time since they broke up in 1999) recording in a London studio last week. After a summer break, they will return to the studio to complete their next album and then in November they’ll be playing some live shows in the UK. Who’s flying me over for that? Any takers? Anyone? Here’s the deal… you fly me over for the shows and I’ll buy beers for us at the shows as well as the tickets to the shows which go on sale on my birthday July 6th. See, it’s fuckin’ meant to be.

ANOTHER EVEN BETTER UPDATE: As Finn posted in the comments of this entry, you can download 17 KILLER demos from The Verve’s 1996 Urban Hymns session over at the blog "I am fuel, you are friends". Looks like a cool page… check it out.
Radiohead posted some short clips from their seventh record on youtube. As usually they’ve made it pretty cryptic and you can’t really tell what the songs sound like cuz the clips are so short and jumpy, but what the fuck else are you doing right now? Check it out.
Just the other day I was wondering what Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was up to because I haven’t seen him On Conan lately. But look, here he is reporting from the red carpet at the 2007 Tony Awards. Words can describe how funny I think this dog is, my sides are slightly hurting and my eyes are watering after watching this clip, the end really has a pay off… you might wanna stick around for it.
Triumph @ The Tony Awards
In case you haven’t seen this one… here’s Triumph nuking Bon Jovi. You give poop a bad name!
Pleasure Forever are back… kinda. They’ve released a posthumous collection of unreleased and rare songs called "Bodies Need Rest" on Conspiracy Records. This album consists of four cover songs from some unfinished EP, plus four rare tracks forming a comprehensive timeline from the band’s beginning. This album includes 5 previously unreleased Pleasure Forever tracks as well as two B-sides previously released on Sub Pop and one track from the out-of-print Buddyhead Presents: Gimme Skelter compilation I put together back in 2003. Pleasure Forever is not currently active, but this long-awaited release is set for official release worldwide on May 22, 2007. Each band member lives in a different city on the west coast and is involved in other musical projects at this time. Andrew Rothbard released his first solo album Abandoned Meander in late 2006 on Smooch Records. David Clifford currently plays drums in Red Sparowes and bass guitar in The Sagittarians. Josh Hughes has a new band called Rabbits featuring ex-Lion Fever drummer Kevin Garrison. Pleasure Forever was once known as SLAVES and all thee members played previously in The VSS.
Tracklisting: 1. King Cobra in the Guts of Valhalla 2. Miles Underneath 3. Capricorn Blue 4. Right Back Down in the Middle 5. Black Juju 6. The Bars 7. Our Way 8. Honey Honey
I don’t know anything about Pete Doherty or his music, what I’ve heard isn’t very impressive but he is buries the rocket in Kate Moss so he must be doing something right. Here’s a clip of him pre-drugs&fame standing in line for Oasis. Fuck, if he likes Oasis he’s ok in my book.
While I’m posting shit no one cares about in America here’s a clip of the bear from the Bo Selecta show… I posted a clip of the bear with Jenny McCarthy a while ago.
Dude gets nuked off stage by someone rad… later in the video he tries to claim it was because the dude was offended by his Liamisms. Negative dude, it’s cuz yer lame. This is what a Liamism is… "Godlike", "I like gettin’ high" & "Better than The Beatles".
I don’t know much about Unkle, aside from that song they did with Thom Yorke a few years back with the crazy bum video, but their new record sounds like it might be worth checking out. According to Wikipedia their new record is due out July 24th in North America, will be called "War Stories" and feature the likes of Josh Homme, Chris Goss, Ian Astbury, some dude from Massive Attack, Autolux and The Duke Spirit. Sounds alright, right? I think so. If this track called "May Day" featuring The Duke Spirit that someone emailed me sounds anything like the rest of the record, I’m right again! Woo! Check it out.
Speaking of The Duke Spirit… they are on this side of the ocean (they hail from that little island with the shitty food called United Kingdom) recording their new full length with Chris Goss out in the desert. The band recently just played an amazing show at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace that blew minds and have now decided to bring their rock back to the city of LA on June 12th @ Spaceland (yeah, I know… the only bummer is you gotta go to Silverlake). Oh, and the Duke Spirit have the coolest website of any band out there as far as I’m concerned. Might as well hit their myspace for some tunes and videos… they’ve got plenty of em!
Also, seeing as how I’ve been on a movie kick lately… what do you cats think this new Transformers movie is gonna be like? Is it gonna blow? Or is it gonna be a good big dumb action movie like I hope it is? I mean at least this chick is in it. Let’s hear some predictions… Also, anyone seen any good flicks lately?
Patrick Bateman: Do you like Huey Lewis and the news?
Paul Allen: They’re OK.
Patrick Bateman: Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in ‘83,I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consimante professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
Paul Allen: Hey Halberstram.
Patrick Bateman: Yes, Allen?
Paul Allen: Why are their copies of the style section all over the place, d-do you have a dog? A little chow or something?
Patrick Bateman: No, Allen.
Paul Allen: Is that a rain coat?
Patrick Bateman: Yes it is! In ‘87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it’s not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it’s also a personal statement about the band itself.
[raises axe above head]
Patrick Bateman: Hey Paul!
[he bashes Allen in the head with the axe, and blood splatters over him]
Patrick Bateman: TRY GETTING A RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU, FUCKING BASTARD!
