It’d be a lot cooler if…
So I guess they announced who was playing Coachella today. If you ask me.. I think it’d be a lot cooler if Van Halen was playing Coachella. Diamond Dave, the Halen bros and Wolfgang killing it on bass… fat and 15. As Eddie told Howard Stern… "He’s DANGEROUS!"
Believe it or not, I’ve been getting into Van Hagar lately. It grows on you. Suck on "Poundcake" from a small record called "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". The Red Rocker and this dude on the left here just GOING OFF! Hell Yeah!

I think I’m gonna hurl, dude. I guess this is a good time to admit my love for Steve Vai…
On an unrelated note…I saw Van Hagar hanging out backstage on a tape of the 1992 MTV video awards that my friend had recorded on VHS. After they’re done schmoozing with Kurt Loder post-awards ceremony, Loder and Tabitha Soren start talking about the GnR/Nirvana dispute, and Kurt Loder actually says, “I have a feeling it’s just going to be one of those things that blows over.”
I got a pretty good kick out of that, considering the Eagles of Death Metal drama.
Also, Denis Leary starts dissing on Nirvana in his lame Bill Hicks one-off show, and he makes some joke about, “Why isn’t there a band called, Aneurysm?” I don’t know for sure if this was pre or post Incesticide, but I thought that was a funny connection too.
This could also all be old news. Kinda like Van Hagar.

Yes, Van Halen started to take themselves and their song writing far more seriously when Hagar joined. It was a step in the right direction and I’ll give you 5150 is a quality record.
Either way, I’m still not backing this one.

While it would be cool if Halen was playing Coachella, I can’t believe you guys aren’t totally stoked on the fact that the Jesus and Mary Chain are playing. What gives? You guys should be creaming your jeans and posting rare JAMC that lameasses like me haven’t been able to get ahold of. Can’t argue with Van Halen though.

When I was in sixth grade, on the first day of school, a teacher told me that I had to wear my “Van Halen Kicks Ass” t-shirt inside-out because it was offensive. I think it had a picture of a robotic rat on it.

Is Hagar wearing plaid Z Cavarriccis in that vid?
The chorus is a little shitty but I’m partial to “Finish What Ya Started.”
