I’ve been listening to lots of Soundgarden lately, I guess I’m totally lookin’ California but feeling Minnesota dude. "The Garden" is my favorite soundtrack for driving around LA lately, plus it’s raining like it’s Seattle here today. I’ve mostly been rockin’ their sixth (and last) record "Down On The Upside". It’s a little more mellow and a tad bit weirder than their others records (I could probably describe it better than that, but I’m fuckin’ lazy - deal with it), but it still sounds like them and I still have no idea what the fuck Chris Cornell is singing about. Speaking of Chris Cornell, where is the real Chris Cornell? The REAL Chris Cornell wouldn’t wear cargo pants and be in Audioslave. I’m guessing aliens stole him and Metallica (after the black album) years ago and have replaced them with kooks who are currently impersonating them now. But that’s just my theory and what do I know? The Slave are currently recording with Brendan O’Brien though (at A&M studios), so maybe that dude can make a couple of their songs not totally suck… We’ll see. Either way, these songs below kick ass… enjoy. Also, check these video clips… (Pretty Noose) (Pretty Noose alt) (Burden In My Hand)

Here’s two tracks from the new Eagles Of Death Metal record, "Death By Sexy". Turn these jams on anywhere and you’ve got yourself an instant party. It practically tears people’s clothes off and it even makes me (almost) wanna dance (and I don’t fuckin’ dance man). These dudes hit the road with The Strokes tomorrow… they’re gonna be super psyched on all the hot college chicks that come to those shows. The "Eagles" are like Jon Spencer if he wasn’t a total fun vacumn.

The first time I heard this new Richard Ashcroft solo record (his third so far) I wasn’t impressed. All I could think about was how this adult contemporary stuff wasn’t stacking up to his previous ass kicking band, The Verve.
However, the more I listen to this record, the more I’m backing it (I guess I’m getting old or something if this shit appeals to me). Either way, I’m still waiting for the day when Richard wakes up, realizes he’s way radder with Nick McCabe and announces a reunion. Until that happens chew on my two favorite tracks off this record, the video for "Break The Night With Colour" and these two Verve songs that I’ve been listening to a lot lately. Oh and how rad is this photo of Richard and Noel going off?

This is a live record that only came out on vinyl and is from the tour that Neil Young did right after Harvest. Everyone came to the shows wanting to hear the hits like "Harvest", "Old Man" and prolly even the stinker "Every Man Needs A Maid" but just to be a dick he didn’t play any songs off Harvest on that whole tour. Neil’s punk and he’s psyched to sing about Canada on this record. From the first line of the title track (which starts the record off with the line "14 junkies too weak to work"), you know this record is gonna be raw. Yeah dudes, this record smokes like Chong! Oh and The Black Crowes covered the song "LA" off this one of the nights I saw em play in Los Angeles if that means anything to you. "LA… Uptight…. city in the Smog… don’tcha wish that you could be here too?" Fuck yeah you do.

I realized I hadn’t posted anything from Nardwuar in a while, so here’s "The Human Serviette" v.s. The Hedgehog! Fuck yeah! Nardwuar said his interview that he did with Aaron and Jeordie from Nine Inch Nails when we were all in Vancouver, BC Canada will be up soon, so I’ll post that when he gets it ready. In the meantime check out Aaron’s fan site… http://north-side.net/!!!! It’s hilarious, weird and creepy all at the same time. My favorite part is the photos section. The best part is we just got a box full of candy sent to our po box from the person who runs the site yesterday! Yeah, I know this has nothing to do with Ron Jeremy but what the fuck am I gonna say about that guy?

Cat Power’s got a slew of records out by now. Homegirl has been rockin’ forever it seem, this record is number seven or something.
I’ve never really been big on Cat Power’s minimalist/melancholy folky chick rock records, although I like them, they were never something I’d listen to repeatedly. On this new record entitled "The Greatest" however, she’s gone and changed it up. Chan found herself a pretty kick ass jazz band so the shit sounds sweet, maybe that’s what the title is all about. Check out the first song on the album that’s called "The Greatest" (go figure) and the video that Harmony Korine directed for the song "Living Proof" (which is my favorite song on the record). if nothing else, this record will most likely get your area touched…

I’ve been in Hawaii for the past week sitting on beaches, riding my skateboard, not wearing shoes, checking out this stuff they call Maui Wowie and eating lots of rad sushi. Hawaii goes off kids, check it out if you get a chance. All I’ve been listening to over here is "Let It Be… Naked" by The Beatles and these first two Big Star records. I figured most of you have probably checked out The Beatles (if you haven’t you’re a poser), so I went and posted some Big Star this time. Both "#1 Record" and "Radio City" come on one cd now so you’re pocket book will be psyched. I don’t know much about Big Star aside from they started in the early 1970’s, the main songwriters were Chris Bell and Alex Chilton (The Replacements wrote a song about Alex on their album "Pleased To Meet Me" so you know he’s kick ass) and I really like the drummer on these records cuz he’s beating the piss outta the skins man. Seeing as how we’re on the Big Star tip (and I’ve been getting a few emails about posting some shit from the Elliott Smith bootleg "From A Basement On A Hill II" that we put on the "Best & Worst Records of 2005" list), here’s a cover of "Thirteen". Aloha.

Yes folks, it’s that time again… It’s time for a new mind blowing Shat album to bum the world out. 69 hits songs in 69 hit minutes, brilliantly entitled "Cuntree", will be coming out on Buddyhead Records (trust me, I can’t believe we’re putting it out either) in the very near future. While we tweak the artwork a bit and get ready to send this bad boy off to the pressing plant we figured it’d be good to let you all chew on a couple of Jeff Wood’s epic new songs… here are two of my favorites: "Dollar Store" (which is a topic John Lennon is pissed he didnt’ write about first) & "Joanne, Joanne" (which Jeff tells me is about the girl who runs "Burning Angel"). Oh, and check out the track listing… 1. Rock And Roll Beginning 2. Vagetarian 3. Rob From The Rich And Give To The Whores 4. Double, Double Chin 5. Show Your Tits 6. Shit On Her Tits 7.
