1. What artist inspired you to create art?
I got a guitar in 8th grade and sat in my room learning metallica and suicidal tendencies songs.  When I was in high school I had been into punk and hardcore for a few years.  Alot of bands would come through where I grew up in Virginia and I feel lucky to have been exposed to that but the first band that made me put two and two together and actually realize that I could get out there and do the same thing was Avail.   They were guys from my home state who were not much older than me, not much different than me, who were putting out their own records, touring constantly, and making a life for themselves out of playing punk rock.   Their shows always had this amazing energy and there was this feeling that the band and the crowd were creating that energy together.  It wasn’t a band on stage playing to an audience…..there was no distinction between the two.   Avail was “our” band, not just the guys who played the instruments.  It was everyone at the shows.    I love Avail and I always will.

2. What or who still inspires you to keep on keeping on?
I’m lucky because I have alot of very creative and talented friends who continue to make good music.   They keep me excited about making my own music.   They help me remember how fun and rewarding it can be.

3.  What would you rather be doing right now?
Currently?  Eating breakfast at Red’s diner with my wife.   She’s still sleeping though.

4.  Give us your best recipe? Let us have it.
I can make the fuck out of a scramble.    Its the ultimate “dude” cooking strategy.  you just put a bunch of eggs in a frying pan, then put a bunch of other shit you like in the frying pan, then you scramble the shit out of it.  DONE.  Easy right?    I prefer throwing in some soyrizo, black beans, avocado, peppers, and some pepper jack cheese.    Veggie sausage works instead of soyrizo though.

5. How old were you when you lost your virginity and how’d it go?
Not old enough to deal with the possibility of getting a girl pregnant, and I was awesome.

6. What makes you cringe?
Reality TV.   Horrible ignorant new england accents, bad grammar,  awful music that was obviously created for the sole purpose of making money,   people smoking in their cars with the windows up, people smoking in their cars with kids in the car,  those metal nut sacks that shitheads hang from their rear bumpers,  teenaged gang members,    flip flops on a dude not at the beach, board shorts on anyone not at the beach,  girls who think its ok to go out dressed in their pajamas,  those adidas sandals (especially with socks),  people that cough into their hands and then touch things,  people who wear skate shoes but dont skate…..the list can go on for hours.

7. If you could pick one super power and it had to be either being able to fly or being able to time travel, which would you go with? And what would you do first with your new found super power? Would you rally on the side of good or evil?
Good and evil are terms relative to your perspective so I dont think I can answer that part of the question.      If i could choose a superpower though…..I suppose it would be to fly because time travel is just too powerful.   The repercussions of time travel can affect everyone’s lives and I just dont want that kind of pressure on me.

8. Do you have hope for this new generation of kids who worship Lindsay Lohan, suck down TMZ, download music (and have never even owned one cd or lp) and fast food gobbling generation that is in their teenage years right now? Or are they a lost cause?
People before us said the same shit about us.   Its the same cycle over and over.  “Whatever” is what i say.   Who gives a shit?   The kids will either wise up or be fucktards for the rest of their lives.   Realistically speaking…most people are fucktards anyways.  The world will keep turning, and I’ll still be in my room listening to Black Flag.

9. Tom Cruise… genius or psycho?
Maybe a little bit of both.   I was leaning towards psycho before i saw Tropic Thunder.   He swayed me back to the middle ground.

10. What in the world is affecting you right now?
Its hot as fuck outside and I have no air conditioning.   The whole world is falling apart.  Fuck it, Im just gonna ride my skateboard and play my guitar.

11. Tom Jones or Neil Diamond?
Neil Diamond hands down. WAY better songs.

12. What could you NOT live with out?
My wife, my skateboard, my guitar.
